Jozi release their latest hit as a free song on a number of Nokia’s Ovi Music Stores worldwide

Nokia today announced that one of South Africa’s hottest Hip Hop bands, Jozi will be releasing their latest single as a free song through Ovi Music from the 29 November to the 12 December 2010 in selected territories. 

Having recently won an award for the Best Hip Hop Video for their song ‘Wild Life’ at the Sound In The City Awards in Lagos, Nigeria, Jozi is one of South Africa’s hottest exports and they have already performed alongside some of the biggest names in the world, including the Black Eyed Peas and opening up for Kanye West on ‘Touch the Sky’ tour.  “Releasing a new single is a big thing in the music world and offering the song for free via an on-line music store is a huge step forward for digital music,” says Dominque Silva, Ovi Music Manager for Nokia South Africa. “The song will be available for download for free from the 29 November until the 12 December.”

 As well as releasing their latest hit next week, the name of which is Diva, the group will feature in the first in a series of documentaries entitled ‘The Making Of’.  Each episode will feature a 48 minute documentary of a South African celebrity and detail their road to success.  The new documentary series will focus on South African celebrities from actors to musicians to business personalities. The program aims to portray the life stories of these celebrities and will include testimonies from the celebrities themselves as well as people closest to them. “We are excited about the documentary which will be aired soon as it will show the real story of the band covering everything from their birth and upbringing to their success and failures. Fans enjoy knowing more about their favourite bands so I believe the series will do very well,” says Silva.

Apart from their recent award at the Sound In the City Awards, Jozi have been nominated for numerous MTV Awards, both as solo artists and as a group and in 2008 won Best Live Group at the MTV Awards.  As a group, Jozi has not only toured South Africa, but in 2009 they were invited to launch their music at the Panama City, Florida Spring Break gathering hosted by Nickelodeon, an event owned by MTV.

The free song will be available via Ovi Music in the following countries and territories, South Africa, Italy, Middle East, Finland, Singapore, Poland, Netherlands, Germany, Indonesia, France and Brazil.
